The Appellation d\u2019Origine Contr\u00f4l\u00e9e was established in 1937. Grayish limestones occupy the top of the slopes, up to 500 meters altitude. Going down the slope: oolitic limestones, white oolite, marls and limestone kidneys, the lower oolite on a marly level up to 300 meters above sea level.
