Aloxe-Corton
The Corton Mountain forms an exemplary geological section. Between 200 and 300 meters above sea level, the soils are reddish brown with lots of siliceous kidneys, flint limestone debris (“chaillots”), or loose soils, rich in potash and phosphoric acid. The vines are exposed from east to west. The northern part is the most tender and fruity; the most solid and structured southern part. The stony soils produce supple and distinguished wines; more clayey and marly soils, firm and complex wines.
